Walking Death Trap

We had another ice storm. Everything was coated with ice, including the surfaces you'd rather be standing on. The dog, processing four contact points, cares less for friction and more for action, demanding the usual walking, sniffing, and pooping. Enthusiastic impulses can make something quite the jerk.

This storm was one of the thicker coatings of ice I've seen. It made the trees look more like organic tentacled things reaching out and up to the sky, or down to pluck the hat off your headwhile you peck at the coating on the car windshield.

You idiot, you're going to drive in this?

Yes I am.

The thick ice has lensing properties. Encased branches project tiny images of the branches all around them. Tiny frozen tendrils fringing a solid core.

Another day in paradise.
