NoVa Roller Derby Super Novas vs. Empire State 6/19/14

This bout was a bit special for me as a photographer. The Girly finally got her Nikon AW-1 and I got to play with it a bit.

The Nikon 1 cameras are widely vaunted for their rapid autofocus speed, and the AW1 can burst at up to 60 fps (vs. my D200's 5fps). We don't have a wide/long lens for the AW1, and the kit lenses don't have vibration reduction. I was prepared for dissappointment, but also hopeful that it might get some quality photos in places the D200 tends to miss.

The first half of the bout I shot with the D200, the second half I shot with the AW1.
